Notion is a powerful tool for organizing and managing your content, but one area where its built-in features fall short is custom button width adjustments. While Notion doesn’t directly offer a setting to change button width, there’s a simple trick you can use to achieve this effect. Let's walk through the steps!
1. Open the Button Settings
First, click the settings icon on the right side of the button you wish to adjust. This will open up the button configuration options.
2. Adjust the Width with Blank Characters
Next, in the Name field, add blank characters after the text. These blank spaces will help you balance out the button width across multiple buttons. The blank character you need to insert is a special one:
Copy this character: “ ”(The quotation marks are just for identification; copy the blank character inside them.)
You can paste this as many times as necessary to adjust the button to the desired width.
3. Save and Apply the Changes
Once you’ve added the spaces and adjusted the button's width to your liking, click Done to apply the changes.
4. Customize the Button Color (Optional)
If you’d like to further customize your button, you can change its color. Simply click the small six dots icon to the left of the button, then choose Color from the options. This will give you a variety of color choices to enhance your button's appearance.
You can use this trick of inserting blank characters to make the widths of multiple buttons consistent, and it can also help center or right-align the button text. It’s a simple, effective solution that will definitely work, giving your Notion workspace a cleaner, more organized look.
