How to make a shape transparent in google slides

In this tutorial, we'll walk you through how to adjust the opacity of an entire image in Google Slides, along with a method to set partial opacity on specific areas of the image. Whether you want to create a more subtle look or highlight certain parts, these techniques will help enhance your slides and give you more control over your visuals. Here are the step-by-step instructions:

Part 1: Adjusting the Opacity of the Entire Image

  1. Select the image, then click Format options.

2. Click on Adjustments.

3. Adjust the Opacity value—the higher the value, the greater the transparency. Click Apply to confirm.
Tip: If you have multiple images to adjust, select them all and repeat the steps.

Part 2: Adjusting Partial Opacity on the Same Image

  1. Click Insert.

2. In the Shape menu, select Rectangle (or any other shape you need).

3. Resize the rectangle to cover the area where you want to adjust opacity.

4. Select the rectangle, click Fill color, and choose White (or match the background color of the image).

5. Click Fill color again, then select CUSTOM.

6. Slide the bar to adjust the rectangle’s opacity—the further left, the more transparent.

7. Remove the shape’s border by clicking Border color.

8. Select Transparent to remove the border line.
