How to make a notion website

1/2/2025

Notion is a powerful tool for knowledge management, and in addition to its use for team collaboration and personal note-taking, it also allows you to publish pages as public web pages. This offers users an easy and efficient way to create a personal website or showcase page. While Notion doesn't have the features of traditional website builders—like custom domains or complex layout designs—it’s perfect for creating clean, simple pages.

For example, Notion is great for building personal portfolios, resumes, project showcases, or any other website that doesn’t require heavy customization or complex interactions. It’s an ideal choice for those who want a straightforward and quick way to set up a webpage.

Steps to Create a Website with Notion

Here’s a simple guide to turn your Notion page into a website:

  1. Open the page you want to publish: Start by opening the Notion page you want to convert into a website.
  2. Click the "Share" button in the top-right corner: You’ll find the “Share” button in the top-right of your page. Click it.
  3. Select "Publish to web": From the dropdown menu, select the “Publish to web” option.
  4. Click "Publish": Once you click “Publish,” Notion will turn your page into a public web page that anyone can access.
  5. Unpublish the page: If you want to stop sharing the page, simply click “Unpublish.” You can also click “View site” to preview what your live site looks like.
  6. Manage all your published sites: If you have multiple pages published, you can click on “Manage all sites” to view and manage all of them in one place.

Post-Publication Settings

After publishing your page, Notion offers a few additional settings to help you customize your website:

  • Link expires (Not available on the free plan): This feature allows you to set an expiration date for your URL. Once the date passes, the link will no longer be accessible.
  • Search engine indexing: You can choose whether or not you want Google and other search engines to index your page. If you want your page to be discoverable by a wider audience, enabling this option is a good choice.
  • Allow duplicate as template: If you enable this option, anyone can duplicate your page into their own Notion workspace. This is useful for sharing templates or resources.
  • Site customization (Not available on the free plan): The paid version of Notion gives you more customization options, such as setting a custom path for your site, removing Notion branding, and choosing whether or not search engines can index your page.
