How to lock a shape in place on google slides

11/27/2024

When creating a presentation in Google Slides, sometimes we need to maintain consistency for certain elements, such as a brand logo or a decorative image, across multiple slides. It can become tedious to reposition the image every time you add or adjust slides. By using Google Slides' master slide editor, you can keep the same image in a fixed position across all slides. This not only boosts efficiency but also ensures consistency and a professional look throughout your presentation.

To access Google Slides, click here.

Steps:

1. Click on the "Slide" Menu: Open your Google Slides presentation and click on the Slide menu at the top of the page.

2. Select "Edit Theme": From the dropdown menu, choose Edit theme. This will open the master slide editor.

3. Ensure All Slides Are Selected: Once you're in the master slide editor, click on THEME to ensure the image is applied to all slides. If you don't do this, the image won't appear on every slide.

4. Insert the Image: Click on Insert in the top menu, then choose Image to upload the image you want to fix in place.

5. Adjust the Image: Resize and position the image as needed to ensure it’s in the correct spot across all slides.

6. Close the Master Slide Editor: Once you've adjusted the image, close the master slide editor to return to normal editing mode. The image will now stay fixed in the same position across all slides.

Important Notes:

  • Once you add an image to the master slide, it will automatically be applied to all existing and new slides.
  • The image is fixed in normal editing mode, meaning it cannot be moved or deleted.
  • If you need to adjust or remove the image, simply go back to the master slide editor.
